CLARKE,J. Album of flowering plants, grasses, ferns etc in paper cut out silhouettes. Pasted into their original hard cover album covered in grained red cloth, gilt, approx 20 cm x 17 cm. Pp 26 used, 23 of them featuring cut out plants, 1 cut out scene, the other two pen drawings. Exceptionally fine work laid out in a decorative style, most images with several plants in an arrangement. A note, written to a Mrs Couch [ the recipient of the album] is loosely laid in. It is signed by the donor, a J Clarke of Knutsford, Cheshire UK who hopes that Mrs Couch will like the work. The album appears Victorian- it is a good quality album with yellow-wash endpapers. Light toning and sometimes a hint of offsetting from the black paper cut outs, but otherwise a sturdy binding in Very Good plus condition.
