Toujours Chic
Book Description
A collection of 80 colour pochoir plates each measuring 11.8 x 18 cm for Spring 1921 depicting the style trends and colours for the season and with a description of the materials intended for each design at the foot of each plate. There are 4 sections, each with 20 plates; I Dresses, II Suits and Coats, III Evening Wear, IV Underwear. Each section has a small 4 page leaflet providing a description of the plates within and each section is contained within a paper folder. The four sections all fit within an original card slip case with a 25fr price to the rear. A fabulous complete set with one of the underwear plates possibly substituted with a suit plate from the same season, although the plate is not a replica of any In the Suits and Coats section.
Germaine Paule Joumard was the founder of several fashion magazines in the 1920s and 30s including Le Très Parisien from 1920 to 1935 [ 6 ] , Les idées Nouvelles de la Mode from 1922 to 1929, La Mode chic from 1932. She also provided illustrations for each under the name Joujou. The folders state that the collection will be printed four times a year in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter although the winter edition states that it will only be published twice a year. We can find no issues other than the spring 1921 and Winter 1921-22. Scarce.
