History of the County Palatine and Duchy of Lancaster
Book Description
Second edition, a four volume complete set. The favoured edition of this classic county history, noted for the finely engraved plates, portraits and maps and for the many pedigrees ( several folding ) of the more notable Lancashire families. This copy would appear to have belonged to one of those families, the Heskeths. The surname Hesketh is handwritten on the front free endpaper of each volume.
This is a large paper copy ( page height 31.5 cms ) and has the 46 extra plates. Sometimes referred to as a ‘subscriber’s copy’ ( see the York Minster Library’s copy Q42.72BAI ). Height ( of boards ) 32cms, width 27cms.

                        Condition
Internally mainly clean and fresh, some of the usual browning to the folding maps. Bindings neatly restored at some point with the original spines being relaid over new, making for a very sound set.
