Women in the Chinese Cultural Revolution
Book Description
A poster showing Chinese preparations for war during the Sino-Soviet split in 1970’s. No date, 21 ¼ in x 29 in. Woodcut in red and black, Very Good condition. The poster is based on Sino-Soviet border conflicts from1968 to 1972.We are led to understand that the text reads in rough translation “ To dig deeply tunnels of the underground project, and extensive grain reserve, and not to dominate the world, but service people”. Cartoons show Leonid Brezhnev and Alexei Kosygin, with text identifying them as “New Tsars of Soviet revisionism”. A woman worker peasant is shown holding her “little red book” alongside her male worker. We are selling this poster as a decorative item as it is difficult to translate the text, date, and context of the work with certainty.
