Cloth spine with pictorial boards; extremities lightly worn else very good and bright in the original coloured pictorial dust jacket which has some wear and tears, and some loss at two corners, some marks but still bright. Scarce. This is Pauline Baynes’s debut publication as both writer and illustrator, and it caught the attention of J R R Tolkien who asked her to illustrate his book Farmer Giles of Ham, later she became famous and admired for the illustrations in the C S Lewis Narnia books.
