Frank Kingdon Ward undertook many expeditions to the regions between Tibet, China and Upper Burma, primarily for plant-hunting. This books records his 1924 expedition with Earl Cawdor (who contributes to the book) to Southern Tibet. At this point, the Tsangpo carves its way through the Eastern Himalaya, via a series of gorges, into the plains of India. The gorges had only been partially explored, and Ward and Cawdor extended their exploration farther than any previous visitor. The expedition also successfully located many new plant species, and a 2pp. Index of Plants offers details.
