An interesting provenance: Creswell was a well-known collector of Bewick, who had his bookplate designed in so that it looks very similar to a Bewick illustration. Presumably, the rather nice binding was commissioned for Creswell. We have not come across Bewick items from the Creswell collections before, and believe that they must appear very rarely on the market.
