Comprehensively cataloguing the origins, date of introduction and British gardens and their owners of foreign introductions during the golden age of plant-hunting, the Floral Register was the resource for all newly introduced plants. Benjamin Maund (1790-1864) botanist and horticulturist, "he prospered as a bookseller, stationer, printer, bookbinder, publisher, and chemist in a combination normal for the time".
