In 2010 The Driver's Seat was one of six novels nominated for the Lost Man Booker Prize, a special edition of the Man Booker Prize awarded by a public vote to a novel from 1970, as the books published that year were not eligible for the prize due to a rules alteration; J. G. Farrell won for Troubles. Spark's novel had numerous lives: it was adapted successfully for the screen in 1974 (and released in the US as Identikit), starring Elizabeth Taylor and featuring Andy Warhol, while, in 2015, it was adapted for the stage by Laurie Sansom for a National Theatre of Scotland production.
