South African autodidact and banker, Francis Carey Slater (1976-1958) is perhaps best known today for his attempt to forge an indigenous English poetic idiom. His work to ‘acclimatise’ English poetry to South Africa began with this 1924 collection. Jisc LHD lists copies held by BL, Cambridge and UoYork.
