A three-volume, nicely-designed edition of comedies, tragedies and histories of William Shakspere.
Visible imperfection on the spine, which somewhere lacks, and is cracked on the hindge. The text block complete. On the vol. no. 3 (Tragedies), cover board is barely held, cracked on the whole length. 
Overview: 
Half-brown morocco boards, half-cloth boards, spine in four compartments, gilt letterings and patterns steel engraved title and frontis, and illustrated with an additional steel engravings, chiefly portraits of famous American and British actors of the date (mid 19th century). 
Old damp-stain affecting lower portion of cover and lower parts of first pages  but not affecting text or illustrations, covers worn, in the volume of histories hinges weak otherwise quite strong. Edges worn out and curved.
