Book Description

16 Photographs of Russian Street Scenes. c. 1920 or later. A collection of 16 large contemporary photographs showing scenes, probably in Moscow in the years in the Russian Civil War period [1917 - 22]. An interesting and intriguing series of photographs, seemingly by the same photographer and certainly from the same source and showing a variety of street scenes and political figures. Among the figures shown are Grigory Zinoviev addressing a crowd, futurist poet and playwright Vladimir Mayakovsky and Mikhail Kalinin, nominal president of the Soviet Union from 1919 until 1946, with his wife Ekatarina.
