London: John Murray, 1889. Second edition. This is a very good (or better) copy. In the original publisher s green cloth, with the rhea hunt in gilt on the front board and 3/6 price to the spine. Some rubbing to the corners and spine ends. Internally, the previous owner s name is stamped twice on the preliminaries in purple ink (though small) and light pencil annotations throughout. Decorative endpapers and woodcut text illustrations throughout. The text blocks are markedly clean. Overall, this is an incredibly clean and presentable copy of a seminal work, and a sought after edition.
