Contents very clean and bright, and retaining the original silk page marker. Publisher's black cloth backed boards, the spine with the title etc; lettered directly in gilt. White endpapers, offsetting on both front and rear endpapers. Overall, a near fine copy. First published in the USA in the same year. Hiram Bingham [III] (1875-1956), born in Honolulu, he was an explorer, scholar, author and politician. He led a number of expeditions to South America - 'The following pages represent some of the results of our four journeys into the interior of Peru and also many exploration into the labyrinth of early writings which treat of the Incas and their Land' - from the Introduction.
