                        Scarce.  Green embossed cloth boards with gilt lettering to spine.  Boards are marked and generally rather grubby.  The cloth is puckered.  Corners are bumped, edges are worn.  Spine is very faded with bumping to ends.  Rough cut page edges.  Modern endpapers.  2 hand coloured plates (Officer of the Cape Mounted Riflemen 1842, Cape Mounted Riflemen Royal Standard and Regimental Guidon).  Some water marks to the head of the original (1837) title page through to b2, minor loss to the left margin of pp 4.  Previous owner's bookplate of Ernest J Martin.
