Double ruled gilt borders, front and rear. Aem. Binding by Bickers & Son, London. Each 8.75ins x 5.75ins with marbled endpapers. Volume one: xiv, 418pp plus 9 colour plates (by W. Dickes). Volume two: xiv, 418pp plus 9 colour plates. Both volumes have a large number of woodcut illustrations within the text. Volume one has an inscription on the first blank page after the endpapers which reads "Francis Henry Hodgson, from his fag Latimer LHT Le Marcheint, on his leaving Eton Election 1867". Pages between endpapers and text quite heavily foxed in both volumes. Occasional light foxing to some text pages. A VG attractive set.
