Camera Script for "Blake's Seven" (1981), this being Episode 9 of Series D, titled "Sand", by Tanith Lee. This cult BBC TV series ran from 1978-81 and was created by Terry Nation of Doctor Who fame. 92pp with camera instructions alongside dialogue for the actors. Camera Scripts such as this one were produced in far fewer numbers than the corresponding Rehearsal Scripts. Pages 21.1 x 29.8 cm
Provenance: Andrew M Stephenson – Sci-Fi writer (published 2 novels in 1977 & 1979), fan and artist (his artwork, often signed Ames, appeared on two covers and inside several issues of Galaxy Science Fiction and inside some editions Inverted World among others. He wrote the Waterloo Sunset comic series, collected in 2006 and numerous other fanzines, topping the 1973–4 Checkpoint Fan Poll for best fan artist, placing second in 1972–3 and third in 1974–5. He would later work for the BBC under the mentorship of Chris Boucher, the script editor of Blake’s Seven throughout its run, who guided him through the rigid layout rules of BBC camera scripts and helped him adapt his prose-heavy style into television-ready formats, giving him BBC camera scripts to help him understand how to format camera directions, audio cues, and action pacing. He had two scene breakdowns commissioned by the BBC in 1980 & 1982, but they were never produced.
