1st Edition 17.4 x 21.2 cm white glazed paper covered boards. Profuse gilt decoration and titles to the front and titles to the front framing a paste down image of children at play. Pale yellow endpapers unpaginated 17 leaves printed on one side only. Full page frontispiece, title page vignette and 21 smaller illustrations of the various sports and games described including football and cricket. All of the illustrations are hand coloured. The original boards and spine are complete and without restoration. There is some dust marking to the covers commensurate with age and rubbing to the corners and a little loss of a couple of millimetres to the spine tips and a 1.7 cm crack in the front joint at the foot of the front board. There are a couple of pinprick holes in the spine 6 cms down from the head of the spine which go through to the endpapers (insect damage). The binding is firm and internally the book has no name, inscription or bookplate and is generally very clean with just a few light marks. A scarce work with some lovely hand coloured illustrations of children at play.
