This is a Near Fine Copy of this rather uncommon book bound in a greyish/brown coloured cloth with gilt title lettering to spine.Translated from the Hungarian and with a foreword by Major Gerald Burrard.The binding remains tight with NO hinge weakness,half title is present.Illustrated with some 200 illustrations and with a folding sketch map at the end of the volume highlighting Mr Kittenberger's expeditions.Lovely clean copy internally and with the top edge of the book in gilt.The Author was a Hungarian hunter-collector who collected trophies for the Hungarian Museum.Book features his adventures in Kenya Colony, Uganda and German East Africa (Tanzania). At the base of Mt Kilimanjaro, he got mauled by a lion and was transfered to Moshi, also suffering from malaria. His first trip to Africa was in 1902 and the last in 1925. In 1913, while in Uganda, he was put under arrest and sent for detention in India for 5 years long years.This uncommon book was acquired from an impressive lifetime's collection of books on Big Game Hunting and shooting in the UK Asia,The Far East,America,Canada,Africa and New Zealand.Great copy for the collector,8vo 348pp First Edition 1st Impression [1929]
