Large quarto - c8 ½” x 11”, 960pps + 15 b&w plates incl frontispiece - no maps present; full dark brown leather covers, there are several bits of leather missing off the front cover, has been rebound with new spine with title in gilt; also new marbled endpapers with a strip of canvass to strengthen on front/end covers and inside end pages; small oblong piece of red leather on inside front cover with a name printed on and ‘1844’; pg 7/8 seems to have been taken out and cropped down and restuck back into book (all the text appears to still be there), intermittent foxing throughout the book, especially on the plates. Book finishes on p960. Binding is tight and no lose pps. Book weighs 2.8kg
