Priestley’s account of the six-man party which spent two years away from the main group during Scott’s last expedition is an Antarctic classic. It offers an insight into the daily life ‘endured’ by the men in a way that Priestley was not able to express in his account written for the official book, Scott’s Last Expedition. This Canadian is bound largely from the sheets of the 1914 London edition, with a new imprint on the title-page, a cancelled leaf (pp. 17/8), and the publisher’s name at the foot of the spine; it is scarcer than the other contemporary editions.
