Plath. - Child is limited to 375 numbered copies, this number 175. --- MacCaig. - Three manuscript poems is one of 100, from a total edition of 375, numbered and signed by the author. --- Pound. - Etruscan gate is one of 100, from a total edition of 300, numbered and signed by the author and artist, Dorothy Pound. All three volumes are 4to. The Plath and MacCaig volumes are thin paperbacks (10.4 x 8.3 inches) in blue and brown card wraps, lettered in black with printed grey card dustwrappers. Both show some very light fading to the wrappers but overall a very good indeed. Etruscan gate is a hardback in publishers burgundy cloth with gilt lettering to the front board and spine. In a dustwrapper that shows some minor fading to the spine and the top of the panels, where stood next to shorter books on shelves, and a short closed tear, without loss, to the bottom of the spine. (10.8 x 8.2 inches). Fully illustrated throughout. With six items related to the Press and its publications: 1. General press prospectus and order slip; 2. typed letter on headed paper, dated January 1971, signed by Eric Cleave and thanking A Mr. Sampson (Peter Sampson (1944-2012), Publisher, working at various times for Macmillan and Jonathan Cape, and owner of The Merrivale Editions private press) for his order, regretting that he could not let him have identical numbers for the two books ordered but would match numbers for future orders, including Ted hughes' upcoming publication A Few Crows, and mentioning that Etruscan gate was due in early February; 3. Mr Sampson's typed reply, dated January 1971, thanking Mr Cleave for two books received; 4. A printed note to accompany the MacCaig title, the first manuscript poems series book from the press, and announcing future planned publications; 5. Etruscan gate prospectus; 6. Etruscan gate order form. The Rougemont Press was founded in 1969, and directed by Eric Cleave, Ted Hughes, Moelwyn Merchant, & Paul Merchant.
