This is the account of Captain M'Clintock's expedition, funded by Franklin's wife, to discover the fate of the Franklin Expedition. Captain Franklin's Northwest Passage expedition was a British voyage of Arctic exploration that departed England in 1845 aboard two ships, HMS Erebus and HMS Terror. The entire expedition, comprising 129 men including the Captain, was lost. McClintock was the one who confirmed Franklin died before the crew resorted to cannibalism.
