Red cloth boards, gilt lettering to spine and front cover, no dustwrapper. 11.75ins x 9.25ins, [iv], viii, 264pp, liv (index). Title page printed in red and black. Plate depicting earliest corporate seal of Colchester opposite the title page. Translated and transcribed by W. Gurney Benham this volume provides a series of pictures of local government in Colchester from the time of Richard II to that of Henry VIII. Includes year by year lists of Burgesses, bailiffs, leases granted and wills. Slight loss of colour to corner of front board. Spine a bit faded, otherwise VG.
