Fully illustrated with colour frontispiece and 18 mono plates, showing noted airmen, balloons, airships and planes, plus dozens of engravings throughout the text. Some spotting to the blank endpapers and the edges of a few pages throughout, and a neat school prize label, dated 1915, on the front free endpaper, but overall a very good copy in a fine early binding by Bickers and Son. Full tan tree calf. Spine with five raised bands, each with gilt piping. A brown and green morocco labels, gilt. Compartments double ruled and fully decorated in gilt. Floral gilt border on boards. Board edges with decorative gilt tooling. Marbled endpapers. Inner boards with blind tooled floral border. All edges marbled. Gilt stamp of the arms of St. Michael's School. Westgate on Sea, on the front board. A very good copy of this early work on aviation, in a beautiful leather binding.
