                        First edition. 8vo. [132], 64, 189-236, [128]. Pagination irregular. Second leaf signed A4, as per ESTC. An extremely rare item, in distressed condition. Engraved title page torn, approximately half the page is missing. Fire marks to prelims, with loss of text to A1-5, where most damage pages appear to have been cut. Approximately half the text is missing in these leaves. Corner to B5 missing, with the loss of a few letters., C5 damaged without loss, G6 torn with loss. Remainder of text mostly clean, with pages in intact. Contemporary calf, slightly rubbed. Early note to front pastedown, Wills Wray Book, bought at ye auction paid 7d. Neat signature Janett Millward, 1697, pd 1s 2d 1697 above. Manuscript note of contents to verso of flyleaf, faded signature Joseph Hickson s book to recto of engraved title page, signature to title page Jane Lloyd, number to fore edge 26. This work was produced to mark the ejection of the non-conformist ministers after the act of uniformity, a key point in the history of the Anglican church that still resonates today. A great pity that it is so damaged, but nevertheless also a copy of interest in its signatures of both men and women, in the original binding. Rare on the market.
