Black Beauty, the famous book written from the horse’s point of view, must surely have been influenced by this book about the hard life of a donkey called Jemmy, told in its own words….The Adventures of a donkey was one of the first books to highlight the tough life that working animals endured, told in this way. This book also gives a fascinating glimpse of working life and trades in Georgian London.
