Text-Book of Psychology
Book Description
Abridged edition of James' highly influential Principles of Psychology (1890), a work widely read in North America and Europe, gaining attention and praise from Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung. 'In preparing the following abridgement of my larger work, the Principles of Psychology', James writes in this book's Preface, 'my aim has been to make it more directly available for class-room use. For this purpose I have omitted several whole chapters and rewritten others. […] About two fifths of the volume is either new or rewritten'.
The book contains chapters such as "The Stream of Consciousness" (James first introduced the term in Principles of Psychology), "The Self", "The Sense of Time", "Memory", "Imagination", "Emotion", "Will", etc.
William James (1842-1910), American philosopher and psychologist, and a leading thinker of the late 19th century.
