Nice Triple Decker set; ¼ maroon leather with 5 mock bands on spine in gilt; 12mo - 3 ½” x 5 ¾”, Vol 1 - 344pps, inside front page slightly ripped; this volume has 16 extra pps inserted of adverts before the frontispiece and title page. Vol 2 - 342pps. Vol 3, 376pps; some wear on covers; top of spine damaged on 2 vols (people were obviously then pulling books out from shelves by grabbing the top of the spine thus breaking the top - just as they still are these days!!); some wear on inside pps, quite a bit of foxing on the front and back inside pps and occasional foxing through the books. Inscribed on inside cover and dated ‘January 1831’; beside the issues noted above the books are in quite reasonable condition. NB these books were published whilst Scott was still alive. Attractive set and still easily readable.
