Dealer Notes
= Rare copy of the second impression of 1950 (first: 1949) with the original dustjacket in the green variant preserved (unclipped).
Orwell's all time classic, set in a dystopian future where the repressed population endures a totalitarian regime through the use of mass surveillance and propaganda. Terms such as newspeak, thought crime, doublethink, and thought police are used, as well as Big Brother. The adjective 'Orwellian' has now become a synonym for totalitarian and authoritarian social practices.
Dustjacket margins and joints a bit rubbed and chipped, with only some loss at spine-ends (outer ca. 0,1-0,4 cm.) with all text intact and the spine unfaded, still contrasting wonderfully with the text. The jacket is unrepaired with no closed tears and unclipped. The green cloth has a vague offsetting of the lettering from the dustjacket text onto frontpanel and some fading along edges as is common for this work. The binding is tight and square. No inscriptions. A beautiful, remarkably well-preserved copy.
