The Kenneth Farnhill dust wrapper suffers from some surface wear to the front panel, and some creasing to the top edge. It shows signs of handling, and is mildly foxed to the reverse. It has been neatly price clipped. The boards are very near fine in the publishers red cloth and the Crime Club device unmarked. The text blocks are free from foxing. Internally, there are no inscriptions or foxing to note. Overall, this is a very good copy scarce in this condition. The novel features the characters Hercule Poirot and Ariadne Oliver. The story is a "village mystery", a subgenre of whodunit which Christie usually reserved for Miss Marple. The novel is notable for its wit and comic detail, something that had been little in evidence in the Poirot novels of the 1930s and 1940s.
