Beautifully illustrated by the English artist  William Roger Snow, here under the pename R.Andre.Quarto [9¼X7¼"] Original glazed boards and floral endpapers "  Roger Lancelyn Green called  Ewings books " The first outstanding child-novels in English literature" Her story The Brownies gave Baden-Powell the idea & name for the junior level of the Girl Guides  Loosely inserted is an autograph letter signed by the author's father dated 1894 to a Miss Rodgers agreeing to officiate at her fathers funeral.
