Contemporary calf with full gilt spines, contrasting labels, edges marbled, spines a little rubbed and faded, but binding sound. Occasional damp mark, marked to the middle section of Volume IV, offsetting from endpapers to front and rear leaves, half titles present, later bookplate of Robert Hayhurst to front pastedown. Overall an attractive set in the original binding with typical plates of its era, despite its faults.
