Tattie-Bogles are scarecrows employed to keep Scottish potato fields free from predators. Bliss wrote to Edward Bawden in 1924 that, ‘I am troubled by Gargoyles and Tattie-Bogles’ and Simon Lawrence of The Fleece Press decided this would make a perfect title for the book. A long overdue celebration of the work of these two artists.
