Book Description

FIRST EDITION, 1st printing. 8vo. (8.5 x 5.5 inches). Illustrated with six full page illustrations, 4 in colour, and a large folding map, a facsimile of the 1765 plan of the City and suburbs, at the end of the book. Some very light foxing to the first few pages and the fore edge but overall a very bright and clean copy in an early fine leather binding by Bayntun Binders of bath, England. Half dark green morocco. Spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. The compartments double ruled, decorated and lettered in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. A little fading to the spine but overall a very good, attractive copy.
