Representee a Paris, sur la scene de la Comedie Francaise, le 21 Mai 1894. (Oeuvres completes illustrees de Edmond Rostand de L’Academie Francaise). Successful verse play in rhyming couplets inspired by the life of Cyrano de Bergerac (1619-55), first performed in 1897. The play was translated into, and performed in, many other languages. This handsome illustrated volume also includes the earlier play, Les Romanesques, by the poet and romantic dramatist, Edmond Rostand (1868-1918). Among the illustrators was Francois Flameng (1856-1923), who became a noted war artist. Volume 2 of a set of the illustrated plays of Edmond Rostand.

Illustrated by 18 colour plates and by numerous black and white plates numbered in text and text figures. Decorated by head and tailpiece, including headings’ A little wear to extremities, including corners, but otherwise a very good clean copy, handsomely bound.
