Correspondence between William Rose and Sons and London County Council and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade
Book Description
Approximately 89 leaves in a quarto card folder. The bulk of the leaves are letters from L.C.C. and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade regarding faults with fire escapes and ladders along with the replies and drafts of William Rose & Son. There appears to have been disputes between William Rose & Sons regarding the L.C.C. and the Metropolitan Fire Brigade's complaints - amongst other things the newspapers were apparently reporting the use of German steel, preferential treatment as regards the contract and non payment of union rates all of which which Rose's vehemently denied. On the other hand William Rose & Son who took over Rose, Bray & Co claimed that an acquired patent had been abused. Correspondence about these matters is also included. The bulk of the material is dated between 1890 and 1897. The contents are frayed and worn but in good condition for their age.
