Book Description
Bristol Philharmonic Society, Bristol, an incomplete run of 31 programmes from 1909 to 1943, 8pp. to 20pp. each programme, in two sizes: 9 x 4 inches and 8.5 x 5.5 inches, light card covers. Generally in good to very good condition although some have slightly creased, marked and dusty covers, all have rusty staples (a few covers have become detached as a result) and some have a few annotations. There is no duplication apart from those for December 1934 and February 1935. My researches indicate that the Bristol Philharmonic Society was established in 1900 and held a number of concerts each year in Bristol's principal concert venues - the Colston Hall and the Victoria Rooms. Formerly the property of a Bristol gentleman, this is a remarkable and probably unique collection of programmes of this long-running society.
