Book Description
                        This novel in Spanish by Robert Graves, poet, translator, novelist & leading man of letters, draws for its inspiration the autobiographical works of a Sergeant Lamb & covers the early years of the American Revolution. Lamb was a Dublin man in the service of His Majesty's Army (Royal Welch Fusiliers). It begins with his early days in Dublin and ends with his arrival in Boston as a member of the regiment taken prisoner after Burgoyne's surrender at Saratoga. Lamb was a highly intelligent observer of American life at the time especially his description & comments of Native Americans he encountered on his travels.
Its original title in English was 'Sergeant of the Ninth'.
