The Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (formerly the Anglo-Persian Oil Company), established refineries and other production facilities in sites at Abadan, Bandar Mashur, Haft Kel and elsewhere in Iran. In March 1951 the Iranian Prime Minister Ali Razmara was murdered, and within a fortnight the government - which included Mohammad Mossaddegh - nationalised the Iranian assets of the A.I.O.C. The present unrecorded item appears to be a propagandist booklet emphasising the contributions A.I.O.C. made to the well-being of the Iranians as a result of developing its operations at Abadan and elsewhere. Two years later, after a military coup in which Mossadegh was overthrown, the A.I.O.C. regained its position as a member of the international consortium the National Iranian oil company.
