Autobiography of one of Italy's finest and iconic mountaineers. Cassin is synonymous with some of the most important ascents in mountaineering. He made many first ascents in the 1930's, led the team on which Bonatti made the first ascent of Gasherbrum IV (1957), led the first ascent of McKinley's Cassin Ridge (1961), and led the 1975 Lhotse south face attempt with Messner. Many of his route are coveted by modern day Alpinists such as the Walker Spur.
Rare signature on a handsome copy.
